Most telecalling teams track one number: calls made. It feels productive, but it barely correlates with revenue. The teams that consistently hit targets watch three numbers together.

1. Connect rate

The share of dials that actually reach a human. A low connect rate usually points to bad data or bad timing — not lazy agents. Fix the list before you coach the caller.

2. Talk time per connect

Long talk time on connected calls is the single best leading indicator of intent. Short, repetitive calls mean your pitch is being cut off early.

3. Follow-up speed

How fast a promising lead gets its second touch. Leads called back within an hour convert far better than those left for the next day.

Read them as a system. High connect + low talk time = a scripting problem. Low connect + high talk time = a data problem.

Put all three on one dashboard, review weekly, and you'll stop optimising vanity metrics and start moving revenue.
